Description

This easy homemade brownie recipe offers a rich, fudgy texture that melts in your mouth, making it a favorite treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 4 oz semisweet chocolate (chopped or chips)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped walnuts for mixing in

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×9-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter with the chopped chocolate. Stir until the mixture is smooth and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Slowly stir in the melted chocolate-butter mixture until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold this dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. If you want to customize your brownies, fold in chocolate chips or chopped walnuts at this point.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  7. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing them into squares.

Notes

These brownies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days and frozen for up to 3 months. Serve plain or topped with whipped cream, ice cream, or chocolate sauce.
